Born on 7th April 1921, Terence Robert Cashion has the most impressive record of any pre-war Tasmanian player.
He was the only Tasmanian player to win the Eric Tassie medal for best and fairest player in ANFC carnivals.
He played soccer at school but started his football career with Buckingham in the SSOBA from 1935 to 1938.
He started playing senior football with New Town in 1939 and in his first two seasons finished runner up for the TFL best and fairest award. During the second world war, Terry enlisted in the army and while stationed in Melbourne played six games with South Melbourne in the VFL until a serious knee injury forced him out of the game.
After being discharged from the army Terry joined Clarence in 1946 in the Southern Districts Association, winning the best and fairest award. He was a member of the Clarence team in its first year in the TFL in 1947, again winning the best and fairest.
